I have a friend group that plays Dirty Santa every year. I've been involved with the exchange since 2015, and I used to be horrible at choosing gifts. More than once, I took my own present home because it was so bad that no one wanted it. This inspired me to start painting so that I could create fun, unique gifts. Now, I always look forward to Dirty Santa because I know that people will want my paintings.

I branched out when my mom went on a cruise and joined a gift-exchange group with nine other people. She wanted something Mississippi-themed, so I painted her ten small magnets featuring different images related to Mississippi and music. I didn't realize that my mom was the tenth person in the group, but she was happy that she got to keep the BB King magnet, which is currently on her refrigerator.

Eventually, I started painting larger scenes, but magnets are still my most popular items.
